A lovely couple of days at Yosemite with my family...
We were blessed to spend a couple days before the thanksgiving holiday this year at Tenaya Lodge at Fish Camp California on highway 41. The lodge is just two miles away from Yosemite National Park. This area of California is truly a beautiful area to explore and enjoy. The Tenaya Lodge had a lot to offer. While we were there, we enjoyed delicious food, a tour of Yosemite, and quality relaxation time with our family.
We ate our meals at the lodge. Jackelope's Bar & Grill offered a delicious breakfast buffet, as well as a full menu of breakfast choices. Their evening dining menu also offered some fantastic choices. I personally enjoyed the fish tacos because I like to try them wherever they are offered. They were a little spicy, but so tasty I would definitely have them again. On the second night I enjoyed the chicken pasta dish. It was delicious. I also had a bite of my husband's filet mignon and it was like butter. It practically melted in my mouth. On our second night there we were going to go out for pizza at Timberloft Pizzeria, but couldn't resist another night of Jackelope's because the desserts were calling to me. The "English Sticky Toffee Pudding" is truly worth the indulgence. It consist of moist date cake baked in caramel sauce and served warm with whipped cream and toffee bits. I'm now inspired to try and make it myself. I've already been looking for recipes because I had that two nights in a row and that isn't enough. I honestly would have had it a third night had we stayed longer. The lodge also offered a deli store with a large variety of grab and go choices. In fact, the tour of Yosemite that we took came with a lunch that was provided by the Lodge Deli.
Our tour of Yosemite was simply perfect. We took the Yosemite 360* tour. The tour left me truly thankful for those who have worked, and continue to work in preservation of this breathtaking national treasure of a park. The mini bus allowed for 12 people and our guide. We highly recommend having Scott as your guide. He was a lot of fun and very knowledgeable. His love and personal connection to the area was evident. At every stop and along the way he provided us with ample interesting facts and stories. Had we ventured on our own, it wouldn't have been as enjoyable.
As you will see in my pictures, the main lodge is already beautifully decorated for the holidays and the area has already received some snow. I was so cold that added layers of clothing were needed, but then I am always cold when everyone else is perfectly content. The cooler temps and the decorations set the mood to get me in the holiday spirit. We stayed in one of the family cabins instead of the main lodge. I really liked this because it provided a more private setting to relax with my family. We played games and filled the cabin with laughter. The main lodge was a beautiful 10 minute walk away, but we opted to drive because I was cold. In warmer times, I'm sure the beauty of the area would be well worth that walk.
Warning... photo dump. I have many more photos, but these will give you an idea of what this quick trip was like. Enjoy!
