My True Loves Kiss

~My True Loves Kiss~

~ ♥ ~

the way you touched me

 quickly pulled me close

my face in your hands

kissing my lips

I melted in your embrace

If it had stopped there

maybe It would of been fine

But it seems I still care

Love is mysterious

found only where it truly

exists

For me it was found

within your kiss...

~ ♥ ~

we always said....

we would be friends

just words to please

to set restless minds at ease...

~ ♥ ~
WORDS
change everything....
Yet remain true are the facts
my faithful heart
can no longer look back
~ ♥ ~

I will always love you
~ ♥ ~

 I have no regrets

~ ♥ ~
a couple steps back to allow my heart to leap ahead....
it's all good...
I would rather have the chance at true love
than to never feel a thing....
we never know how much time we have...
live for the now
love with your whole heart
be thankful for a shared path of joy
find peace

I accept not needing to understand everything

(I always try & find music to go with each post...listen to the words... by title it may seem wrong for this writing & yet somehow it is fitting.)

Donald Lynn Carr (10/24/1943 - 01/27/2013)

Donald Lynn Carr
Donald Lynn Carr passed away at his home on Sunday, January 27th after a long valiant battle with cancer. He left this world to be with Jesus the same way he lived his life; quietly, with grace and dignity. Don's wife Barbara, his mother, daughter, sister and brother-in-law were with him as he "slipped the surely bonds of earth and put out his hand and touched the face of God"*.
Don was born October 24, 1943 in Santa Monica, Ca. to Paul and Mary Lou Carr. He attended local schools and graduated from William Howard Taft High School, Woodland Hills in 1962. Don loved the beach and the sea and spent every chance he had sailing.
After graduation Don joined the Navy and continued his love for the sea as well as flying. During his years in the Navy he became proficient in survival skills including escape and evasion, living off the land and parachuting. He became a Survival Specialist Instructor teaching 1 to 2 week courses to Navy Fighter Pilots and personnel. Always a quiet man, not one to talk about his experiences little is known about this time in his life other than his insistence that most bugs, worms and other slimy things "Tastes Like Chicken".
After his discharge from the Navy Don settled in the San Fernando Valley and went to work for Litton Industries. It was during this time that he married Judy Fiss and his daughter Lisa was born. Although the marriage ended, the birth of his daughter was one of his life's greatest joys.
By 1975 Don's desire to travel and to sail got him thinking about taking a year or two off to explore French Polynesia. Don sold everything he owned, brushed up on his navigation skills, put a few things in a backpack and headed off to live the ultimate dream. His first stop was America Samoa where he signed on as a crewmember for a private yacht headed to Bora Bora. Don's plan to travel for 1 to 2 years turned into 8 years. He worked as crew for yachts traveling from island to island and did a 3 year stint on Bora Bora working for Club Med teaching wind surfing, diving and other water sports. He crewed several times on the Klaraborg, a two masted schooner built in 1850, one of the last that was still sailing. In July of 1982 he left the Klaraborg at Perth, Australia to backpack through Australia. The Klaraborg was headed to dry dock for needed repairs. Within days Don learned that the Klaraborg had foundered and sank on the next leg of her trip. The crew was safe but only the ships bell and wheel were saved.
One of his fondest experiences happened when he was in New Zealand and his parents joined him for an extended vacation. Don always preferred to get off the beaten path and hang with the natives. He had a great time sharing that adventurous spirit with his parents. By 1983 Don was ready to return home to the States. Before he did he spent several months in Europe traveling the back roads of England, France, Italy and Greece. He often stayed with people he had met on his travels in French Polynesia.
When he returned to the USA Don settled in Santa Maria where his parents had retired. Don went to work for the U S Postal Service working out of the main office on Battles Road. For over 20 years Don worked the rural route of Sisquoc, Gary, Foxen Canyon and Tepusquet, traveling the 100 miles route daily. He loved the daily drive, the serenity, the challenges weather created and getting to know his customers. Don was also a member of Civil Air Patrol Squadron 30 Search and Rescue based at the Santa Maria Airport for a number of years. He enjoyed participating in the flights, using his navigation skills and the friendships formed with the other crew members.
In 2005 Don was preparing for the next part of his life, retirement. He dreamed of traveling again but this time exploring the USA including Hawaii and Alaska. On a whim he posted his profile on Match. At the same time friends of a newly single Barbara posted her profile on Match. And the rest as they say is history. As Don and Barbara got to know more about each other they discovered that over their adult lives they often lived within blocks of each other, frequented the same places and that they currently worked next door to each other without having met. Their friendship deepened into love and they were inseparable. They loved drives up the coast with the top down in Don's 1996 Cobra Mustang. Cambria was a favorite destination. They shared a love of music, often going to concerts in Santa Barbara, Pozo and Paso Robles. The most memorable concert was seeing Journey, whose song "Open Arms" became "their song". NASCAR, Golf, NFL were also shared favorites. They loved being together and made a simple trip to Costco an outing.
A little over 3 years ago Don was diagnosed with cancer and he and Barbara began a different journey together. During this part of their journey they worked with the most incredible Doctors, Nurses and staff. Dr. April Kennedy and her staff and Dr. Case Ketting and his staff were always informative, upbeat, and caring. They fought this battle with us with determination, love and honesty. Don and Barbara leaned heavily on the knowledge and experience of Sean, Jenni and Patty from Marian Cancer Care. Aundie with the Head & Neck Cancer Support Group and the members of our Support Group provided a forum to share and learn. Marian Hospice gave Don and Barbara the opportunity to make the most of the time they had left together. Vickie, Amy, Barbie, Maria, Olimpia and Colleen of Hospice treated Don with love and dignity. In the short time that Shantelle from Home Helpers worked with us she became like a member of our family. Words like thank you are not sufficient to express what is in our hearts. You gave us comfort, support and so much more. All of you who helped Don through this journey will forever be in our hearts and prayers.
Even though Don knew his time was limited he chose to carry on with as many items of his "Bucket List" as possible. For as long as he was able Don and Barbara went to concerts at the Paso Fair, took road trips and spent time with family. Don loved being around family so it really shouldn't have been a surprise when Don decided to add to our family two Toy Poodles: sisters Rosie and Ruby. These two bundles of red fur joined our family in September 2012 at 8 weeks old and added so much enjoyment to Don's last months.
With a belief that their love would overcome any obstacle Don proposed to Barbara. Don and Barbara were married on November 2, 2012 at the Santa Barbara Court House. They chose the Clock Tower for the site of their marriage. Surrounded by their family and with the views of the Santa Barbara Harbor in the background they formalized their commitment and love.
In the last weeks of his life Don accepted Jesus into his heart and the promise of eternity.
Don is survived by his wife Barbara, his mother Mary Lou Carr, his daughter Lisa Harter (Bob) and grandchildren Kendall and Brady Harter, his sister Marsha Rowe (Dennis); nephew Kevin Rowe (Tawnya) and their children Asher and Noah; niece Christy Moller (Bryan) and their children Charlize, Madison and Raegan Moller. In addition he leaves Barbara's children Ron (Sandy) Menane, Chas Menane and Jeri Diane Sharpe and their children. Don is also survived by Joan Knight, Bonnie Rowe and John and Terry Poplawski and many other family members joined through marriage and lifetime friendships.
To say that Don will be missed by his family doesn't describe the depth of the emptiness that his passing leaves. Knowing we will be reunited in eternity gives us hope and comfort.
Don touched many hearts and lives during his lifetime. It was his choice to be cremated and to not have a formal service. In keeping with his wishes but wanting to have an opportunity to honor his life we will be having a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 10th. We will post the time and venue prior to that date.
"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life."

A Special Birthday & A Lovely Meal

My lovely boss was looking to celebrate her birthday.  She called the resort restaurant of her choice and was crushed to find that they were closed for a private party.  In hearing her disappointment, they offered to ask the party if it would be alright if they accepted our small party off to the side of theirs.  They did agree to it and here is what happened.

We were treated to the most wonderful evening.  We were spoiled with 5 star service and the food was perfection.  The Chef visited our table and brought us an appetizer of seared scallops on pork belly.  It simply melted in my mouth.  He even went that extra mile to decorate a desert for Pattie.

It appeared that by the end of the evening, everyone of Marisol visited our table and made our evening memorable.

The resort photographer shared with us the photo he had taken just that evening at sunset.  A perfect promotion.  He was truly kind and invited us back for another event later in the month.

We will be sure to come back.  The people were lovely, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the food really was the best I've had in a very long time.

It was a very Happy Birthday for Pattie & all of us who joined her!  Thank you Marisol at The Cliff's Resort!

New Beginings...

"True Love should add to your life.
        It shouldn't take from it...
~leaving you to feel even more alone."
                                ~keepitbubbly

Summer is a dream...
It can be a time to refresh yourself
Try on something new...
Go someplace Fresh,
Or go back to a place you know very well...

"Whatever Will Be Will Be"

for you ... & for all of us....

"Que Sera, Sera"

My way of saying... enjoy your summer my friends...

If you are at a time of new beginnings,
Ride that wave of strength to shore...
(now that you have ponied up your courage)
Say to yourself..."never again" < a tattoo I remember :) >
& "No More."
Some will never understand...
Some know exactly from where you come.
When you are done.. you are done.
You can't tell your children one thing...
"Be Strong, Confident, Respect yourself & Others will respect you."
Then show them the opposite view of you.

So when you make that step
Say "never again" & "No More"
.... never surrender your personal power to anyone again....

Be clear of your path...
& walk yourself out into the world...
                                              out that locked cleared door.

 Our SUMMER BEGINS:
a day ago.....

We had lunch in a field out Hausna Road.... These are my sketches....

A Sunday drive out in the country....

while there...
eating in the quiet...

about 26 wild turkeys wondered through
                                            the golden field...

What a sight that was.
               We were eating our lunch...
.........they were pecking at theirs as they slowly scuttled along.

Here are Miss Em's Sketches... She is really coming along too....

"We are learning together... :)"

Her Hand In Mind

I made sketches with Miss Em... while my son did his usual exploring.... It was a lovely day... :)

there was so much to see

Lots!!  When you get yourself out there... you can be amazed by the most simple of things.  A flower in a field, that in fact is just a weed becomes the most beautiful flower.  Then the sight of wild birds in flight above you really can be breath taking....Maybe it was all the fresh air, but I believe that nature when viewed in person is always so much better.

&

It was a warm day.
The wind felt good ...
It seemed in balance with the ever present warm sun.... :)

Fishing at the park was the adventure of today!

Every Day is a New Day.... A Chance for a New Beginning .... or Not...
that is only something you can decide...
Be Healthy, Live Well... SING ... LAUGH.... (giggle even...)

♥ ♥ ♥
Thankful is a heart that has found true love...

Once in our life we are lucky to have found ...

a love that knocks us to the ground...

makes it hard for us to get up...

One that makes us unfocused, dizzy, happy, nauseous, energetic, and fantastic all at once!

True love is a love you can't recover from when you loose it....

Those who have found it... are really found by it

Hit in the heart with it

displaced when our love is gone....

If our Love hurts we hurt too...

Our Love is the other foot ... Our true match...

feel I can't even walk...without Our other "ol' comfy shoe ...."

Hard to even talk really.... words don't even come....

We feel we can't sleep... for  when the sun goes down

Without our blanket securely snuggled along side.....

eyes can't rest and heart won't be still..

From Love one can't run or hide.

Once you understand & realize what it feels to become one....

impossible when you have become all undone....

Lost without you.... my true love....

Often thought about
the words we never get to say
they come so quick to mind
after time is past
and one has walked away...

Whispered moments & soft touch
can no longer be
lingering physical echoes
send reminders to the heart

Love won't give in so easily

When one asks what expectations would be had....
just one....
the only answer that can be found is silly
to be sure..
It seems a little immature...
to even ask is telling what you expect...
that you need to put it in a box
Like wooded animals WILD,
LOVE must be free to run and play....
No place for perfection
No real direction

There can't be any restrictions,
if love has its way...
you just go where it needs to go and let Love have its days....

But for those who will not let it be.....

Sad for those who have not love in their hearts & lives

Truly....they are the ones who are missing the point of it all!!!

Back to A Good Book!

Below is a repost of an old post.  I tend to arrive at reading this book time and again.  It brings me back to a better center of focus.  People who wear so many hats of activity, find it is easy to get spread too thin, caught up in the lives of others and take on their burdens.
If someone chooses to not be in your life, or decides you to not be important, it is on them not you.  Get back to the truth within your heart & leave theirs alone.  Get back to knowing the agreements you want in this life and ditching agreements that do not work for you.  Get back to what is good in this life and all that is important.  There are so many wonderful lovely things to be thankful for....

I always say never assume anything...
and never take things personally always do your best!!!  Speak well of yourself and of others!  Set the bar high and rise above it!  [*please note....I am not perfect....I fail at this....but I do try! ;)]

It is not always about you...~ you know...it is the old saying..."It's not you, it's me!"  Well I come by those thoughts by the book written by Don Miguel Ruiz: The Four Agreements.
  They are as follows:

1. Be impeccable with your word.
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or gossip about others.  Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2.  Don't take anything personally.
Nothing others do is because of you.  What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream.  When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be a victim of needles suffering.

3. Don't make assumptions.
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want.  Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama.  With just this one agreement you can completely transform your life.

4.  Always do your best.
Yours best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different from when you are healthy as opposed to sick.  Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Take a moment each day...
and do something for you!

start with just one small thing... and let the habit of it grow on you!

Also.... remember to share your smile with others...

A Strange Day & The Heart of A Stranger Is Shared

So today I was leaving one of my least favorite things to do.  Most of you know by now that I despise shopping, but it must be done.  We can not sit upon the potty without the proper paperings!   So just at the door of  Walmart..... this older woman asked me if I was from here and I thought she was to ask for directions...

it turned out she needed a ride.   Without even thinking about myself,  my safety, or anything else, I said: "sure."   I know it was my typical Jeri response.  As we walked to my car, I spoke with her about just getting to know you type questions.  Where she was going?  Walking, talking and being nervous, I found myself a bit off the mark.  Why did I ever say yes?  I found myself looking around for other people who could be with her.   Then we got to my car.  I put all of my things in the trunk. I even put my purse in there, but I kept my cell phone in my pocket.  I had her put her things in the back seat.

From the moment I said I would help her I had been struck with all these fears.  I was worried I would be hurt by her somehow.  Or that there was someone that was working with her to hurt me.  It is sad the way our world is these days.  We are all living in fear.  We can't help each other and work together anymore because there is no trust.  We automatically have to assume that the world is a bad place.  That the people out there are going to hurt us, or our children.  Take our money or something of value.  Sad that everything we see on the news is something of this caliber.  All these bad thoughts ran through my head of horrible emails I had read.  I thought to myself; "What if I just put myself in a bad situation, who will know to pick up my kids from school?"  Silly the thoughts that run through your head.
Then I looked at this woman.  She really looked helpless.  She really needed my help.  I got in my car and smiled at her.  I said to her, "Judy, I hope you make it to your bus on time."  She smiled back at me and answered; "Me too Jeri."  I proceeded to driver her to her bus stop.  We talked along the way about how she wished she had a car.  In fact, she wished someone would give her one.  Someone had done that once.  I didn't ask her what had happened to the car.  It wasn't a long car ride and I was just letting her talk.  Generally, my opposite behavior when I am nervous.  Something about her put me at ease.  She told me of the places she would go with her friend in her old car and how they would shop and go to church.  Then she told me how she was hopeful that no one messed with her things at the hostel.  She had left them on the porch.  She had never left them there for very long.

When we got to her bus stop, she shared her heart with me and how she came to know and accept Jesus into her heart.  She ask me if I was saved.  With misty eyes, we said our goodbyes.
When I shared the story of today with my husband, I don't believe he was very pleased.  He gave me the, "that was a stupid thing to do look,''... and then said: "you have to be careful!"  I know that my kids were not with me at the time and its not like the time I gave the people a ride in Santa Barbara a ride.  They had a baby with them and it was over 90 degree weather.  My heart has a different view on it.  I can't hear a siren without saying a prayer.  I often tell my kids if they are with me to say one too.  We aren't ones to go to church but we don't shy away from prayer either.  As my daughter Emily says: "Prayer works Mom."...

I find myself thinking now ...  In all this time of storms... people losing there homes , family, friends, & health, for whatever reason... I find myself
I am very lucky...  I find myself extremely blessed....
I have a roof over my head.
I have work.
I have food to eat.
I have a car to drive.
I have my family.
I have wonderful friends that support me in my adventures.

(crying just now...)

I am blessed with two very loving children....  very smart funny beautiful CREATIVE children.
with all of this.....i am humbled... i am  thankful.......  I AM BLESSED

Love is Blind?

The biggest heart break can come
when you find your
peace
 your home
in the eyes and soul your lover
then one day wake
to find
that they have not found this in you
nor of another......
They are not the one
who you thought them to be...
The eyes of great vision...
now.... Not.
Those once warm loving eyes are now
cold ....soulless ....distant ...and blind.

Huh? ..... I guess, love is.....
blind.....

When I Need You

When I need you to be mine

I find a better you for me

Its the you I keep in my heart

Its the you I saw from the start

Before hurtful intrusion of others.

Locked away in my heart is the illusion
of blissful innocent lover...

The one that I see from there

That's the you I need in my life...

I can go there anytime

I need you to be mine

Dare to compare the real you to he...

Measure up?

I'm sure you'd agree.

It would pain not just you...

But me.

The you of my mind and heart is better for me,

But must Learn to sustain balance or can not be....

Until balance can be found

Illusion must abound

In that silly place in my heart...

Special & belongs only to you....

I go there from time to time

When I need you to be mine.

Watched a great movie today with my kids and my nieces.  "The Ultimate Gift" had us all very moved.  If you haven't seen it this movie, its worth watching.  I am thankful to have shared it with my family.... now I share it with all of you... my other family!!

May we all have the true blessings of the gifts he received in this movie.
1) the gift of work (he must learn to work for his money)
2) the gift of money (he must learn to handle his money wisely)
3) the gift of love (he must learn to love unconditionally)
4) the gift of friends (he must find friends who accept him without his money)
5) the gift of laughter (he must learn to see the joys of life)
6) the gift of giving (must learn to be generous, especially with money)
7) the gift of family (he must spend time with family)
8) the gift of problems (he must learn to face and solve problems for himself)
9) the gift of learning (he must learn to learn, he doesn't know everything)
10) the gift of dreams (he must have dreams, dreams for his life)
11) the gift of gratitude (he must learn to be thankful for what he has)
12) the gift of a day (What would you do with your last day on Earth)

A Song for you too...  Because as my brother once told me... "With somethings, you have to be all in.  It has to be all or nothing Sis."  I believe he is right when it comes to all of the above,  I believe he is right when it comes to love....All in....
Have a sweet and lovely, warm giving of thanks....  Safe travels if you are,  if you are not...Enjoy those you've got! :)
