 OUT FOR A HIKE .....

KEEPING LIFE BUBBLY...

Enjoying this beautiful area we live in and completely grateful and blessed for the ability to do so.

We explored the Johnson family ranch trail.  It was a lovely day to do so....

Map at trail start point.

A bit of Johnson Family History.

Take your time

and read about

the land

before your

walk.

A lot of care has been put into this land to protect it.  A wonderful project & a fantastic area to enjoy!  Please take care when you visit.

I am always thankful for these signs. My kids love them too!

There is much to learn  and much to see.  You can use this area for exercise or for an educational visit.  We saw walkers, runners and mountain bikers on this hike.  There are plenty of plants and animals to look out for.  Please be careful of wildlife.

Wildlife is diverse and abundant.

"My daughter loves to look at all the wild flowers, while my son is on the lookout for deer and animals."

In the early 1900s this area was quarried for gravel.

I apologize for the quality of this picture.  I will replace it when I can, so please check back.

In pursuit of more information on Bellevue School, I began a web search this morning.  I myself experienced a similar learning environment for sixth grade when my parents allowed me to attend Jamestown Elementary in the mountains above Boulder Colorado.  I have always been intrigued by and wanted to do research on one room school houses and their original locations here on our beautiful Central Coast.  There is still so much history for my children and I discover on our adventures.  I have been told about relatives who went to a school originally located at Lopez Lake.  The foundation is supposedly still there underwater.  In my opinion that is a fun fact to know.

In todays search, I found the above link for America's One-Rooms.  Amazingly enough the school I mentioned above Santa Manuela School in Arroyo Grande made the list!  Follow the link and be proud of your area.

Another well known school in our area was Ballard School for Santa Barbara County and it was also on the list.  Being a graduate from Santa Ynez High School, I of course had to include this detail!  Go Pirates! (Once a Pirate, always a Pirate!!  "ARGH!!"

Sadly I did not find anything on Bellevue School.

Development of the highway and its effect on the Johnson Ranch & Bellevue School.

When we go on our hikes I like to just quietly hike along.  I like to look at the area and think of what it must of been like years ago for people of past.

I take pictures of flowers, and of my kids.  I like to clear my mind and dream of what can be.  I enjoy the escape.

I enjoy the undeveloped natural beauty in the land.  I am thankful that these areas still exist.   I am hopeful that by continuing to take my children on these adventures, I teach them to make these areas a priority in the future.  We all need to remember that theses areas did not happen by accident.  Someone made them a priority.

Thank you for a moment of your day.

I hope you enjoy my blog and the links provided.  I hope you can get out there and enjoy the outdoors too.  Keep life .. your heart... and your love ...bubbly.

(I always try to include music with my postings.  I believe our lives to be made better when touched by that gift.  I will always include title and artist information on the chance that the links stop working.)
